Language Training

Language proficiency plays an important role in bridging the gap between various communities, whether it’s between the village and the city or the North and South. The ability to speak and understand languages outside of your mother tongue opens up the mind as well as a whole new world of possibilities. The Language Training Programmes at FoG seek to create a link between communities while offering our students more opportunities to excel and develop.
English Language Training

At the Foundation of Goodness, we are committed to uplifting the standards of English in rural communities by providing access to English Classes taught by experienced teachers.

English is the international business language and many employers within Sri Lanka report that they suffer because of an inadequate supply of potential workers within the country because the standard of English is not good enough. Without English, individuals are seriously disadvantaged in the job market and excluded from many career opportunities.
Link Language Training

The ability to communicate with each other is essential towards establishing unity, harmony and understanding between Sri Lankan communities and strengthening friendships instead of harbouring suspicion and mistrust caused by decades of civil conflict.

The Foundation of Goodness offers link language programmes at the OYOB Centre of Excellence, our flagship model in Seenigama as well as all Village Heartbeat Empowerment Centres. Tamil Language classes are offered in predominantly Sinhala speaking regions while Sinhala Classes take place at the Centres situated in Tamil speaking regions.

Arts

Traditional Dance Classes
Established in 2013, the Foundation of Goodness dance classes train rural students in traditional and folk style dancing.
Music for Good
The Renuka Malkanthi Alwis “Music for Good” Academy at our flagship venue in Seenigama was set- up thank to Dr. Lankanatha Alwis from the UK, in loving memory of her mother. Our aspiring musicians from rural Sri Lanka enjoy musical training and understanding during this course. Many donations of musical equipment has helped the Academy to grow!

The Foundation of Goodness is a holistic rural development model that seeks to bridge the urban-rural divide in Sri Lanka via 10 empowerment divisions across 900+ villages island-wide, and reached over 307,000+ beneficiaries in 2022 alone by way of 15 Empowerment Centres, free of cost.
